Characteristics of Critical Thinking

  Critical thinking is getting the best decision at the right time, there should be logic, unbiased, and rationale. Our current mindset can be affected by our decision, therefore relevant skills should be practiced for critical thinking. Active listening, having high awareness, being curious, being disciplined, being humble, being decisive, having the willingness, and being creative are some of them.

Active Listening    

  We should have correct information about the scenario. For that, listening and understanding are so important, also we can listen with facial expressions and ask questions from another party. Because of those things, the other party is encouraged. As well as all the parties should be heard. After that, we can identify what is more useful and what is less useful for our decision.

From the in-class activity, we identify that all the members’ ideas must had been listened.  


Being Curious



Curiosity is another characteristic of critical thinking. Because it can be affected to think and search more and more. Otherwise, there won’t be an interest to think about the matter or situation. Critical thinker motivated to search wide area rather than a stream.

Being Disciplined



The decision that is gotten at once is not good, thereby it might be a wrong decision. that’s why critical thinkers should be disciplined. He has to think step by step, his own choices and mindset should be an obstacle to their thinking.

In this module group activities, we learned how to be disciplined, we told our ideas after listening to others and never ignored others’ ideas.


Being Humble



Having a sense of humor is another skill that should have a critical thinker. Listening to other ideas, being flexible when needed, and maintaining good communication skills are some properties of it.
